Recover data from an UNIDENTIFIED partition

Problem :

Windows 8, while creating recovery disk gives you a warning like this :

[ warning message that is shown while creating a recovery disk ]
As written in the image, no matter what partition you have selected on on the drive, this operation will remove all the partitions and recreate the partition table of the drive which will after the end of the recovery disk creation operation will look something like this :

This means that your other partitions on the drive which may have been having all the very important data collections are vanished now, and because whole partition is deleted and new recovery partition is created , typical data recovery softwares which recovers data from partitions wont' be of any help because partition that contained your data is not there now on the drive.

SAD but TRUE !! :(

Same way even if you do something that accidentally changes the complete partition table of your hard disk and if you want to get data from your old partitions back, I am showing you all a way that will work for sure.

Solution Steps :

1. Go to this URL : Find and Mount

2. Download and install software using this URL : Download FNM

3. Select your external drive that got formatted. see the image below :

[Click on the "... USB Device" drive shown]
 4. As soon as you click on your external HDD, it will search the hard disk drive for all the preexisting partitions that contained your data.

5. Once the Search is done, All the partitions that were there before starting recovery disk creation will be shown under the selected drive.

6. Right click on the partition that had your data and select the option to mount it to a new drive letter. (Follow the on screen steps shown to mount the partition)

7. Once the mounting is done then you will be able to see the partition that had your data collection in My Computer as shown in the image below :

8. As you can see that now you have partition in My Computer, that previously had your data collection prior to initiating operation of creating of recovery disk.

9. Just like any other partition in My Computer you will be able to browse through all the data and copy it to the location of your choice.

10. This is a free tool so, you can get all you data back free of cost.

Issue with this method:

Copying data back to your new location takes too much time. I faced it.
